Don, Dave, Heather and families,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Phyllis was a precious lady, and I will always have fond memories of my time in your home. At Wellsource I saw many times when she reached out to the staff in heartfelt ways, but more than anything she loved her family. She had her priorities straight, and I am blessed to have known her.

I am sorry for your great loss . I , too , am a P C T through hiker . I was there at Tinker ' s Knob early this summer ( June . ) Phyllis sounds like quite a gal ! I especially picked up on her going it alone at times in order to further her dream . I have through hiked the Appalachian Trail and enough of the P C T to only have the State of Washington remain . A Triple Crown wanabe . You are all in my thoughts and I particularly like the , ' kissing ' picture - you must be a wonderful family !

Don, Heather, and family

Things were never dull when Phyllis was present. She had an unstoppable energy and zest
for life. Whatever she did, she did with fervor and she was always up for a new
challenge. I came to much appreciate her resounding “let’s do it’ response to a business proposal or strategy. It was often the push everyone needed to finally jump into the air and fly.

I especially appreciated her candor and openness in expressing her thoughts on an issue. She’d didn’t obfuscate or play games. I always knew where she stood.

Phyllis and I both shared a keen dislike for long meetings that seemed to go
nowhere, so we both did our part to sabotage these monsters. I would clumsily arrange an “urgent phone call” or early exit. She, however, would slip in quietly and then somehow manage to vanish.

To say that Phyllis will be missed is an understatement. We are shocked and sadden. Only God knows the answers.

Don, Dave, Heather and families, It saddens me so much, I just hurt for you all. Just loosing Mark was hard enough I can not imagine loosing a wife, mother or grandmother so young. My heart aches for all of you as you suffer from such a loss. Thanks for the pictures, she does look so very happy doing what she loved. We will sure miss that wonderful smile.
Sending my love and prayers, Janice
(I left some flowers on the front porch at Don's house, hope you find them behing the stroller.)

Hello,
My heartfelt sympathy to your family and friends. Although I did not know Phyllis, I can identify with her life and her loves. I was born in Oregon, lived at various times in Portland and visited many times in Milton-Freewater (not far from Walla Walla).

I also am a PCT section hiker and know that there are incredible rewards to be found on the trail--both from the beautiful surroundings and from the hiker community. It is a sad thing that the wild places that we so enjoy can sometimes become places where we can not survive.

It is obvious from the journals and photos on your blog that Phyllis had a rich and beautiful life. My thoughts are with you and I hope that your warm memories provide comfort during these difficult times.
