Mom passes away in her beloved mountains

Phyllis is survived by her husband Don, children David and Heather, and grandchildren. We are all shocked and devastated. Mom died doing something she lived for, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Services are currently being planned. Further details and information will be posted here. Feel free to leave your comments here at the blog. This is the easiest way to contact our family. Thanks so much for all the support. You can read initial details of the tragedy here and here.

Dave and Bev,

We simply do not have the words to express our sadness at this sudden and untimely news. Dave, we remember with fondness the activities and time we had shared with your mom. We are truly sorry. We have a meal drop-off planned for Wed. and want to offer to watch the kids as needed.

No way! I can't believe it, Dave. So sorry to read this e-mail and blog posting. It's ironic because we were just on the Pacific Crest Trail yesterday afternoon with our Pathfinder club for a 10-mile hike (working on their Hiking Honor), so to read this today...just blows me away.

Know that you, Bev, the kids, and Don are in our thoughts and prayers. I'll let the other Prev Care alum know about your loss.

I am stunned and cannot absorb this fact. She was her usual happy self at Mark's memorial service and I appreciated so much that she came. And now she's gone.

Word are not enough to express feelings in this case. The only thing I can think of is - she died doing what she loved - and we can look forward to meeting her again in heaven.

We are sorrowing over Mark, and missing him, and now the shocking news of Phyllis's death. We can't absorb it, and wish we would wake up and find it wasn't true. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your dad and sister, and families, and we long for Jesus to come so we can all be together again, and no more death and sorrow.

I am lost for words and the thought of it still makes my knees weak. I am unable to call cos I know not what to say. for a short time we met and in her strong embrace took us in and now.... i wish for so many things and my heart cries. In this time of sorrow and pain, I ask God to keep you strong. I pray with thee and mourn with you.

Heather and family,
I am so shocked and sad to hear of your moms' passing. I know your pain....and am praying for all of you as you walk down this path. Rely on your faith, your families and all the wonderful memories you have of her. I will always remember that everytime that I came to Wellsource she would always greet me with that warm smile and make me feel so welcome. I so loved her warm spirit and her calmness. The world was a better place with Phyllis Hall in it. She will be sorely missed. I am so sorry.
